Prop Execution Preparation: Separate Visible Depth from a Fill
A saved order book can support a depth calculation without establishing that an order filled at those prices. Keep requested quantity, displayed coverage and later execution evidence separate. A partial book is useful only when its boundary remains visible.

Preserve the snapshot and its units
Record symbol, side, timestamp, price unit and quantity convention. For a Singapore diary, the supplied instant 23 October 2026 at 16:05 UTC displays as 00:05 on 24 October at UTC+8. Retain the original instant as well as that local date.
A chart or snapshot taken later cannot silently replace the book available at the decision time. If there is a sequence gap or uncertain order of updates, stop the reconstruction at that point. No order needs to be sent to perform the record check.
Price only the displayed coverage
In a fictional ask snapshot, two units are shown at 100 and one at 101. For a requested five-unit purchase, visible coverage is three of five, or 60%. The weighted price for those three is (2 × 100 + 1 × 101)/3, approximately 100.3333.
The remaining two units have no supplied price. Applying 100.3333 to all five would invent liquidity. Even the visible three are a snapshot calculation, not confirmed fills: prices and quantities can change before execution.
| Field | Value | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Displayed first level | 2 at 100 | Ask snapshot |
| Displayed second level | 1 at 101 | Ask snapshot |
| Coverage | 3/5 = 60% | Two units unpriced |
| Covered weighted price | 301/3 ≈ 100.3333 | Not a five-unit fill price |
Use confirmed fills for the account ledger
This site’s earlier depth resource supports the coverage calculation. For an actual account, reconcile unique executions, costs and remaining quantity before measuring the result. HashHedge’s instrument and account rules need a separate check for the selected market.
The optional affiliate link is to HashHedge’s current programme. The example provides no liquidity, slippage or pass guarantee. It does not contact an order service or convert a saved book into an account observation.
